Demonstration – Québec – Mahsa Amini – Iranian – refused to wear hijab in Iran
The Iranian community around Quebec City once again came out to protest the treatment of women and activists in Iran. The demonstration also drew attention to those who lost their lives during demonstrations.
Protesters stained their palms red and pasted photographs of victims over the Iranian map.
The mural was in memory of victims who lost their lives while fighting for human rights in Iran, according to a protester.
The demonstration also featured songs, chants and the cutting of hair particularly by women.
Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada has promised to hold Iran accountable for its human rights violations and blatant disregard for human life.
In a tweet on October 3, 2022, Justin Trudeau noted, “we’re sanctioning more Iranian officials and prominent entities that directly implement repressive measures, violate human rights, and spread the Iranian regime’s misinformation.”
To hold Iran accountable for its human rights violations and blatant disregard for human life, we’re sanctioning more senior Iranian officials and prominent entities that directly implement repressive measures, violate human rights, and spread the Iranian regime’s misinformation.
