Diversity is one of the most fundamental Canadian values we have, says the NDP.
In a letter sent by the NDP, the party states “That’s what makes the recent and ongoing comments from Conservative MP Maxime Bernier so dangerous.”
“He claims more diversity will destroy us, and what it means to be Canadian. Think about how those comments make Canadians of diverse backgrounds feel – the isolation, vulnerability, and pain they’re facing.”
“What’s even more disgusting is that he’s doubling down on his comments online:
“Just two days ago, the very same park that Maxime Bernier called out in his hateful twitter tirade as being an example of “extreme multiculturalism” had their sign vandalized. This is dangerous.
“Who speaks for the Conservative Party of Canada? Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer refuses to do anything about his colleague’s comments – so is this the type of rhetoric we can expect from the Conservatives in the 2019 election?
“We can’t let this go unanswered. In a time when the voices against diversity are getting stronger, we need to come together as a movement and push back. Right now, young Canadians from diverse backgrounds, especially, need to hear from us.
“Our team across the country will never stop standing up for our vision for a Canada that’s stronger because we have diverse voices at the table.”
“But spreading the word takes resources,” states the NDP email urging members to contribute to the party.
