Vigils across Canada remember one year truck attack on the Afzaal family of London – Ontario

Vigils are being held across Canada today to remember the victims and survivors of terrorist truck attack on the Afzaal Muslim family of London, Ontario.

The one year anniversary is marked with solidarity walk and online events.

Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario in a statement said “One year ago, a horrific act of hate –motivated terrorism claimed the lives of four innocent people and left a young boy without his family.

“Today, as we continue to grieve this tragic and senseless loss, I join all Ontarians in honouring the memory of the Afzaal Family.”

He said “Racism, hate and discrimination have no place in our province.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in London yesterday where he took part in community events in memory of the Afzaal family.

Justin Trudeau wrote on twitter “This afternoon in London, thousands of people showed up to honour the Afzaal family; to be there for Fayez, who survived and to march against Islamophobia. In memory of #OurLondonFamly, we must keep working together and using every tool we have to combat this hatred.”
