Wainfleet, ON – Long-serving municipal employee Ron Vandelaar, Wainfleet’s Operations Supervisor, was officially recognized for his dedication to the Township and municipal service at the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) annual conference held on February 27th.

Nominated by Operations Manager Richard Nan, Mr. Vandelaar has served for 34 years at the Township in the Operations Department.

“Ron has shown incredible dedication to the Township,” said Mr. Nan. “He’s been there when we needed him – keeping the Township safe and making sure our assets are well maintained.”

Starting out as a cemetery labourer, and later equipment operator, Mr. Vandelaar now supervises the Operations crews as they perform all types of maintenance and construction duties throughout the Township. Mr. Vandelaar was quick to credit his operations coworkers for his long career as well. “The workers on the crews and in the office have been great over the years – we have a really good team of dedicated employees who really go the extra mile.”

Mr. Vandelaar was honoured to have been recognized and appreciated being nominated at this time in his career.

“I’d like to thank Neil Henry for hiring me all those year ago and the residents of Wainfleet for the appreciation and respect I’ve received from them on the job. I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent in the service of the Township and I love what I do every day.”
